“Strange Weather” is a series of vignettes presented one after another.
Some textures grow out of each other, while others jar with unexpected
contrasts. As the music moves through the collage of textures, the
range of the clarinets opens, towards the middle, and then closes again,
towards the end. Usually the three clarinettists work together to create
blurred, “Moire-like” effects.

“Strange Weather” was commissioned by COMA (Creative Original
Music Adelaide) for Eclectica Clarinet Trio, with the generous support
of Arts S.A. and the Australia Council for the Arts.  It was premiered 23 November 2014 at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Adelaide.
